Special exhibition at the Museum of Ancient Cultures

From 22 September 2023 to 14 January 2024, the special exhibition "Gold in the Ammer Valley - The End of the Stone Age in the Tübingen Area" was shown in the "Ancient Cultures" museum at Hohentübingen Castle.


The exhibition was opened on 21 September 2023 in the castle chapel by the Rector of the University of Tübingen, Prof. Dr Karla Pollmann, the President of the State Office for the Preservation of Monuments in the Stuttgart Regional Council, Prof. Dr Claus Wolf, and the Lord Mayor of the University City of Tübingen, Boris Palmer, in the presence of other members of the university management, representatives of the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Philosophy, numerous specialist colleagues from Germany and abroad and the Mayor of the municipality of Ammerbuch, Christel Halm, with other representatives of the municipal administration.

The curators Prof. Dr Raiko Krauß and Dr Jörg Bofinger presented an introduction to the exhibition, the event was moderated by the director of the MUT, Prof. Dr Ernst Seidl.

 

The exhibition was curated by Prof. Dr Raiko Krauß for the Institute of Prehistory and Early History at the University of Tübingen and Dr Jörg Bofinger for the State Office for the Preservation of Monuments at the Stuttgart Regional Council. The exhibition was designed by Studio VAAR, Stuttgart, the colour scheme for the room was created by Stefan Potengowski and his team, and the display boards and exhibition architecture were installed by exhibition stand builder Schauwerk. The exhibition was set up by the institute's conservator Mona Korolnik, assisted by students Hannah Huber, Felix Jähnisch, Anna Koch, Raphael Müller and Veronika Stein. Pictures and a short video of the Institute's field school in Ammerbuch-Entringen "Tiefer Weg" from spring 2023, which was made by Victor S. Brigola, were shown on a video wall.
