Preparatory Course Informatics for Life Scientists

This preparatory course is recommended for all students with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in the Life Sciences (without Computer Science) who are enrolled as a variant B in the Master's program of either Bioinformatics or Medical Informatics. Typically, these are degrees from subjects like Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Molecular Medicine or similar. Participation in this course is voluntary, no ECTS will be awarded.

Students who attend the prep course will acquire selected and basic computer skills which will make their jump into the “digital” deep end a bit easier during the first few weeks. Please note that this course will provide no basic knowledge in computer administration and is no substitute for a complete programming course. This course is intended for students with no prior knowledge of Linux or similar operating systems. In addition, this course is an excellent opportunity to socialize with some of your new fellow students.

The course will be held in English.

Please note that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we do not yet know whether teaching will be in-person or remotely (online). We very much hope that we will be able to meet in Tübingen on the Sand and in-person. If this is not possible, we will have to use again digital teaching. We will let you know in good time which of these it will be.
