Project Description

Ultra-thin transition metal dichalcogenides (2D-TMDCs) are promising 2D semiconductor materials for future applications, including but not limited to photosensing, photovoltaics, transistor technology, or valley- and spintronics. In my work, I will fabricate TMDC-based photodetectors and investigate their photoresponse and electrical bandwidth, which will be crucial for applications in high-frequency data processing. The contact electrodes of the devices are fabricated using a printed electronics approach with laser-assisted direct ink writing from atomically precise gold nanoclusters, as well as conventional metal evaporation. Through this research, I hope to gain a deeper understanding of the formed metal-semiconductor interfaces and their influence on the performance of photodetectors.
