Hana Buntak began her higher education at the University of Zagreb, where she earned dual B.A. and M.A. degrees in Art History and Anthropology. During her studies, she developed a strong interest in human evolution, particularly in the morphological affinities of the hominin fossil record. This interest led her to enrol in the M.Sc. program in Archaeological Sciences and Human Evolution at the University of Tübingen. 
During her studies in Tübingen, she worked as a research assistant in the Palaeoanthropology department, where she used imaging software for data preparation and collection and participated in a targeted fossil excavation project. Her master's thesis focused on the virtual reconstruction of the Neanderthal fossil skull Le Moustier 1. Since 2026, she has been a Ph.D. candidate in the Palaeoanthropology Group at the Institute for Archaeological Sciences, University of Tübingen. Her research continues to focus on the application of virtual methods to the morphological analysis of fossil cranial and dental material.
