Neural Information Processing

Summer Term 2016

Psychophysics & Non-invasive Methods

The Vision Sciences are an interdisciplinary field, with researchers having diverse backgrounds from psychology, biology, or medicine to physics, computer science and engineering. Analysing and designing experiments in the Vision Sciences thus requires knowledge straddling the typical boundaries of many disciplines.

Introduction to Psychtoolbox

Psychtoolbox is a free Matlab toolbox used to design and run stimuli. It allows accurate control over visual and auditory stimulation, and provides ways of capturing the responses from subjects.

During the course we will systematically go through the basics of setting up and running an experiment in Psychtoolbox. Furthermore, students will learn to use online resources to continue their development. Homework will be assigned each week.
