Hui-Tzu Huang began her PhD studies at the University of Freiburg in the spring of 2013. Her research focuses on decentralized renewable energy, starting with a question: what was the grassroots of decentralized energy that happened on the locals? Investigations in YuanLi in Taiwan, Higashi-Ohmi in Japan and Freiburg in Germany have been conducted as comparative cases. A related article, “Energy Prosumers: The Emerging Motives for Autonomous Energy in Taiwan- A Comparative Analysis with Germany and Japan”, has been also selected by ERCCT (Third Young Scholars Workshop).
