IZEW researcher Laura Schelenz was included in the list of 100 Brilliant Women in AI Ethics. The initiative honors excellent researchers working on the harms and discriminatory effects of emerging technology guided by ethical principles. "The Women in AI Ethics™ (WAIE) is a global initiative with a mission to increase recognition, representation, and empowerment of women in AI Ethics. This initiative started with the first 100 Brilliant Women in AI Ethics™ list in 2018, which is now published annually to recognize rising stars as well as pioneers in this space. She is writing her dissertation at the University of Tübingen and explores the meaning and practice of designing “diversity-aware technology” from a Black feminist perspective. Former IZEW researcher Dr. Paula Helm, who is now Assistant Professor for Critical Data Science and Ethics at the University of Amsterdam, was also included in the list.
