Final results of the digilog@bw project available

The digilog@bw research project presents results after three years of operation

For three years, the digilog@bw research network of the state of Baden-Württemberg conducted interdisciplinary research and critical reflection on the influence of digitization on individuals and society. In addition to the IZEW, the network included the University of Mannheim, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and, at the Tübingen site, the Leibniz Institute for Knowledge Media (IWM). The speaker committee consisted of Professor Thomas Fetzer from the University of Mannheim (head), Professor Michael Decker from KIT and PD Dr. Jessica Heesen from the University of Tübingen. The Ministry of Science funded the network within the tender line "Society in Digital Change" with more than 2.1 million euros for a period of three years. The research network developed design options for a democratic and equitable digital transformation. The University of Tübingen and the IWM were involved in the consortium with four projects: IZEW investigated the significance of deepfakes on public communication, the influence of cloud computing on the digital sovereignty of individuals, and participation relations in digital communication, especially discrimination against women by algorithms and in social media. At the IWM in Tübingen, research was conducted into how artificial intelligence-supported voice assistants affect information search and evaluation and what role media competence plays in this.
