New Publication: "Resilienz im Katastrophenfall. Konzepte zur Stärkung von Pflege- und Hilfsbedürftigen im Bevölkerungsschutz" (Disaster Resilience. Concepts for Strengthening People in Need of Care or Assistance)

The transdisciplinary book, edited by Marco Krüger (IZEW) and Matthias Max (German Red Cross), deals with possibilities of strengthening people in need of care or assistance.

In situations of societal crisis – such as a long black out – people in need of particular forms of assistance are mostly neglected. This is the case, for example, for care-recipients living in their homes and being cared by their social environment or a mobile nursing service. The articles of this book seek to increase our understanding what kind of assistance people in need of care or assistance need and how disaster management structures can contribute to this. A theoretical discussion of resilience as well as the methodological approach of local knowledge generation via a model region represent the foundation of the further transdisciplinary research.

The book is the result of the research project KOPHIS that was funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (funded from 2016 to 2019). Regina Ammicht Quinn, spokesperson of the IZEW, and Gerda Hasselfeldt, president of the German Red Cross, prefaced the book.

The book can be ordered with transcript.
