Cluster Professor Zeynep Akata receives this year‘s German Pattern Recognition Award

In 2021, the German Pattern Recognition Award was granted to Prof. Dr. Zeynep Akata for her outstanding scientific contributions in the area of „Multimodal Deep Learning, Combing Vision and Language for Low-Shot Learning and for Explainable Machine Learning“.

Since 2011, the DAGM (Deutsche Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Mustererkennung) has annually granted the German Pat­tern Recognition Award for outstanding, internationally visible research in the fields of pattern recognition, computer vision, and machine learning. The German Pattern Reco­gnition Award continues the tradition of the Olympus Award for Pattern Recognition (1992-2010). Its aim is to promote outstanding young scientists in the above mentioned fields. Internationally visible researchers in these fields who have not yet passed the age of 35 can be proposed.

This year‘s Award was presented at the 43rd German Conference on Pattern Recognition, the annual symposium of the DAGM, which was held in Bonn in October 2021. The conference is an international premier venue for recent advances in pattern recognition including image processing, machine learning, and computer vision.
