Mario Krenn on AI in Science and artificial scientists

Our cluster member and professor Mario Krenn is featured in the latest issue of DER SPIEGEL.

Mario Krenn is engaged in the development of AI systems for discovering of new ideas and concepts. In an interview with editors from Der Spiegel, he discusses how AI now suggests better experiments than humans in physics and how he makes use of its creative inputs in his work, many of which humans would probably never come up with. His goal is to build artificial scientists in the long term, and he explains why – despite all of this – he still cannot imagine science without humans.
