The formal guidelines for the preparation of final theses and seminar papers are outlined in this document.

All students interested in writing their Master's thesis with us, please follow the three-step procedure below.

Step 1: Application & allocation

If you are planning to write your M.Sc. thesis at the Chair of Strategy, you are asked to first participate in the central allocation procedure. Please review the requirements via the link M.Sc. thesis survey. 

Step 2: Topic selection

If you are allocated a place at our chair, your supervisor will contact you to schedule a first meeting and send you a list of topics. During this meeting, you will discuss the topic and empirical approach of your thesis. We have access to secondary data in the following research areas: 

• M&A and divestitures
• Market entry & exit
• Sustainability strategy
• Ownership form & governance
• Organizational design

You can also propose your own topic if it is in the field of Strategy and you have access to interesting data or are able to collect data through surveys or interviews in a reasonable timeframe. All topics require an empirical analysis, which can be conducted using either quantitative or qualitative research methods.

Step 3: Formal registration

Once your topic has been discussed and confirmed by your supervisor, you must register your thesis with the university's central examinations office.

2. Submit the completed form directly to the Central Examinations Office.
