B.Sc. thesis

Allocation and registration 

All students planning to write their Bachelor's thesis at the Chair of Strategy are asked to first review the general information on the Assignment of a Bachelor Thesis. If you are allocated a place at our Chair, it is mandatory to register for the course "B372 Bachelor thesis seminar in Strategy" via Alma. Please pay close attention to the registration deadline.

 

Course details 

This seminar is offered annually in the Winter Term. For insights into the seminar structure and a list of previous topics, please refer to the document from the Bachelor thesis seminar in Strategy 2025/26.

 

M.Sc. thesis

All students interested in writing their Master's thesis with us, please follow the three-step procedure below.

 

Step 1: Application & allocation

If you are planning to write your M.Sc. thesis at the Chair of Strategy, you are asked to first participate in the central allocation procedure. Please review the requirements via the link M.Sc. thesis survey

 

Step 2: Topic selection

If you are allocated a place at our chair, your supervisor will contact you to schedule a first meeting. During this meeting, you will discuss the topic and empirical approach of your thesis. We have access to secondary data in the following research areas: 

  • M&A and divestitures
  • Market entry & exit
  • Corporate sustainability & stakeholder strategy
  • Gender diversity in organizations

You can also propose your own topic if it is in the field of Strategy and you have access to interesting data or are able to collect data through surveys or interviews in a reasonable timeframe.

 

Step 3: Formal registration

Once your topic has been discussed and confirmed by your supervisor, you must register your thesis with the university's central examinations office.

  1. Download and fill out the registration form.
  2. Submit the completed form directly to the Central Examinations Office.

     

Master seminar paper

The Chair of Strategy offers the seminar "B570 Advanced Topics in Strategy" in the Summer Term 2026. We invite interested students to explore strategic issues around three topic areas:

  • Competitive strategy

  • Corporate strategy

  • Stakeholder strategy
