New Distinguished International Professor

Prof. Dr. Patrick Rebuschat from Lancaster University

Linguist Prof. Dr. Patrick Rebuschat from Lancaster University, UK, has been awarded a Distinguished International Professorship at the University of Tübingen for his excellent work in the field of linguistics. In his research, he focuses on bilingual cognition, i.e. he is interested in how we acquire and process a second language. His work addresses questions such as the following: What role do individual differences play in language acquisition? How does explicit knowledge affect implicit learning? What is the role of frequency in language acquisition? How do we measure implicit and explicit knowledge? How are implicit and explicit knowledge represented in the mind and, ultimately, the brain?

During the Distinguished Professorship he will regularly visit Tübingen to collaborate with researchers from LEAD. Patrick Rebuschat will join the group of LEAD’s Distinguished International Professors with Jacquelynne S. Eccles (University of California, Irvine), Brent Roberts (University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign), and Tamara van Gog (Utrecht University). We are looking forward very much to welcoming him in April.
