Profile of the research area
The key research areas of the chair of macrosociology encompass the study of social structure and its change, particularly changes in social inequality in recent periods and their effects on social cohesion. Based on the assumption of methodological individualism, we mostly explore these processes using quantitative analysis using microdata. At the meso level, we also focus on the contributions of organizations and businesses.
The department regularly offers courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. We aim to promote a close connection between research and teaching and to deepen the understanding of quantitative methods.
