Dr. Dr. Joerg Tremmel is an Extraordinary Professor at the Eberhard Karls University Tübingen, Germany.

Between 2010 and 2016, Tremmel was the incumbent of a Junior Professorship for Intergenerationally Just Policies at the Institute for Political Science of Tübingen University.

Tremmel's habilitation thesis was published 2020 by Springer Publishing, entitled "Normative Politische Theorie: Wissenschaftstheoretische Grundlagen und Anwendungen am Beispiel des politischen Mordverbots" (translation: "Normative Political Theory. Philosophical groundwork and exemplification by the ban of assassinations")..

Tremmel holds two PhDs, one in Philosophy from the University of Düsseldorf, Germany (2008) and a second one in Social Sciences from the University of Stuttgart (2005). He completed an MA in Political Science (Diplom-Politologe) at Johann-Wolfgang-Goethe-University of Frankfurt, Germany (2003) and an MBA (Diplom-Kaufmann) at the European Business School, Oestrich-Winkel and the Fernuniversität Hagen (1998). From 2009-2010, Tremmel was a Research Fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science both at the Centre for Philosophy of Natural and Social Science and also (part-time) at the Grantham Institute for Climate Change Research.

Tremmel’s MA thesis in Political Science "Sustainability as an analytical and political category" won the Proctor & Gamble Award for exceptional final theses in environmental science. His most salient book in English is "A Theory of Intergenerational Justice" (London: Earthscan 2009). He is also one of the editors of the peer-reviewed journal "Intergenerational Justice Review".
