Teaching

The IZEW is intricately tied into many facets of education at the University of Tübingen. Our colleagues are engaged in a diverse range of fields, providing interdisciplinary approaches to ethical reflection and the unification of practice and theory. Students of all faculties can attain a certificate for their notable academic performance in “Oecologicum Studies” and “Ethics in Practice.” For students pursuing their teaching credentials in any faculties, the IZEW coordinates the ethics course offers in B.Ed. and M.Ed., as well as in the “Ethical-Philosophical Studies in School and Education” (EPG).

Ethical competencies for teachers

The courses offered within the Education Science Studies aim to help B.Ed. and M.Ed. teacher training students reflect on the ethical aspects of their profession and their subjects.

Regular teaching collaborations

As a partner institution, the IZEW contributes to several B.A. and M.A. programs at the University of Tübingen, focusing on different aspects of applied ethics.

Ethics in practice

This certificate programme, offered in collaboration with TRACS, give students from all subjects a space to explore ethical questions from society, science, and work in a structured and methodical way.

Oecologicum studies

The Studium Oecologicum, offered in collaboration with TRACS, aims to encourage a thoughtful, analytical approach to today’s challenges and to strengthen skills that help shape the future.

Teach@Tübingen@IZEW

Teach@Tübingen is a fellowship programme at the University of Tübingen that enables international postdocs to combine research and teaching while expanding the range of English-language courses. Within the framework of the programme, lecturers from abroad also regularly come to the International Center for Ethics in the Sciences and Humanities (IZEW), contributing their perspectives to both research and teaching.

Occupational further education: Ethics in organizations

The IZEW offers further education parallel to your occupation (in cooperation with the Tübingen Center for Scientific Further Education), appealing particularly to social organizations and educational services. This includes managerial staff as well as employees that desire qualification in handling ethical questions in their occupational fields.

Ethical-philosophical studies in school and education (EPG)

With the conversion to the two-phase Bachelor's/Master's program, the Basic Studies in Ethics and Philosophy (EPG) has been phased out. A certificate of achievement required in individual cases can still be acquired within the framework of the Educational Studies Accompanying Studies (BWS) of the International Center for Ethics in the Sciences and Humanities.
