The library of the Department of Geography

The library of the Department of Geography of the University of Tübingen is a reference library which can be used by students, scientists, teachers and guests. Users have the possibility to borrow books (max. 5) for short time spans. The bookstock of the library consists of approximately 110.400 items including an extensive bookstock of journals and many atlases. The library is currently under partial reconstruction. The entrance occurs temporary via room H604 and room H306. Important books to borrow and journals for inspection are located in room H 306. For students 3 workplaces are available. In room H301 is one photocopier for the use for the library users. The return into the renovated library rooms is planned for the autumn of 2025. Afterwards further workplaces will again be available for students.

  • Karger-Library: Library of the estate of Adolf Karger (Eastern Europe/UDSSR) and new books on the subject of economic geography - Room H608, 2.480 items
  • Latin America-Library: Library with predominantly Spanish and Portuguese literature on the subject of Latin America and developing countries - temporary in the magazine of the university library, 1.979 items
  • Collection of special prints/articles of the Geographical Institute - archives, 10.500 items
