Luise von Keyserlingk receives award for the Top Cited Article 2022-2023

Study on students' perception of stress during the COVID-19 pandemic

Luise von Keyserlingk, Professor at the Hector Institute of Education Sciences and Psychology, has received the Top Cited Article 2022-2023 award from the scientific publisher WILEY for her article ‘Stress of university students before and after campus closure in response to COVID-19’.

The text was recognised as one of the most cited articles published in the JOURNAL OF COMMUNITY PSYCHOLOGY between January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2023.

The authors of the study, including Luise von Keyserlingk, Katsumi Yamaguchi-Pedroza, Richard Arum and Jacquelynne S. Eccles, found that students' perception of stress increased after the switch to digital teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Students with higher self-regulation skills reported slightly lower increases in stress levels. In contrast, students with psychological impairments and more limited time resources reported higher increases in stress levels.

About the person:

Luise von Keyserlingk is Tenure Track Professor for Learning and Instruction at the Hector Research Institute of Education Sciences and Psychology. Her research interests focus on motivation, self-regulated learning, educational choices and mental health of high school students and university students. She is particularly interested in understanding which individual and contextual factors contribute to a positive academic and socio-emotional development of learners in high school, at college, and during educational transitions.
