The period of Late Antiquity/Early Middle Ages, the period now considered to be approximately 200-900 AD, can only be studied through a broad interdisciplinary approach because it lies between the traditional major epochs of antiquity and the Middle Ages and geographically encompasses Europe, the entire Mediterranean region, and parts of the Near East.
The University of Tübingen is particularly well-positioned for this, as representatives of relevant disciplines (Ancient and Medieval History, Classical Philology, Classical and Medieval Archaeology, Church History, etc.) not only have corresponding research and teaching focuses, but have also been cooperating closely with one another for a long time.
The Research Center for Late Antiquity/Early Middle Ages consolidates, coordinates, and presents the diverse activities of Late Antiquity/Early Middle Ages research and the resulting offerings in Tübingen:
- It announces relevant events events,
- explains current research projects
- and provides a list of contacts for interested parties and future cooperation partners.
