We use the telescope not only for scientific work, but also for education.Students learn, how to operate a professional telescope as well as the acquisition and analysis of data.

Advanced Lab

The experiment Photometrie und Spektroskopie is divided into two parts. The first aim is to derive the age and distance of an open cluster. Student take images of the cluster, using different filter to create a color-magnitude-diagram.

In the second part, students take spectra of some stars. Analysing them allows to determine the spectral type of the stars.

Exercises and Lectures

In exercises of the lectures Physik der Gasnebel and Physik der Sternatmosphären, students take spectra of planetary nebulae and stars and analyse them.
