Cell Biology

The examination and understanding of fundamental molecular processes in plant, animal, human cell and tissue, and in microbial biology is key to providing basic knowledge. The application of this knowledge is instrumental for finding solutions to improve human health and to refine sustainable agriculture.

The M.Sc. Cellular and Immunological Biosciences - from single cells to plants, animals, and humans provides a thorough understanding of cellular and physiological processes and their underlaying molecular mechanisms in normal and malfunctioning cells and tissues. The program enables you to learn and apply techniques to study these processes and prepares you to find solutions together with the international and interdisciplinary research community.

The 2-year program offers a research-centered qualification with English as teaching language and  a high academic standard in the areas of molecular biology, cell biology, immunology, and systems biology.

The MSc CIB program is exceptional in highlighting comparative aspects of cellular and molecular processes in a variety of model systems – bacteria, yeast, several plant model systems, Drosophila, and cultures of human cells & tissues – during development, homeostasis, and disease, and in providing hands-on experience on a broad spectrum of state-of-the-art methods.

Labs and lecturers associated with the MSc CIB program are internationally leading in the fields of molecular cell and developmental biology and molecular immunology researching a variety of model organisms, from plants to yeast, animals, and cultures of human cells and tissues.
