Dr. Polinsky's research focuses primarily on Islamic theology and theoretical Sufism, from the classical period up unto today. He completed a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Master of Arts in Religions and Cultures, and Doctor of Philosophy in Religion at Concordia University in Montréal, Canada. His dissertation, recently published by De Gruyter, consists of a study of the life and thought of Egyptian Sufi Ibn Mughayzil (fl. 895/1490). His postdoctoral project at the Center for Islamic Theology, supported by the Humboldt Foundation, is an annotated English translation of the Māturīdī Abū l-Muʿīn al-Nasafī’s theological masterpiece, the Tabṣirat al-adilla fī uṣūl al-dīn.
