Migration is a controversial topic. It is widely discussed by politicians, the media and the public – but also within philosophy. In "Migration and Cosmopolitan Right" Karoline Reinhardt argues that Kant's ideas on the subject stand in a position of "productive disharmony" to the main lines of argumentation in the current philosophical debate on migration. She pays special attention to refugee status, legitimate and illegitimate grounds for refusal, statelessness, naturalization, the right to emigrate, individual duties of assistance and the idea of a "cosmopolitan attitude".
Her dissertation that was awarded the Kant-Förderpreis by the Immanuel Kant-Foundation and the Walter-Witzenmann-Preis by the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences is now published.
