Novo Nordisk Foundation Prize for Biotechnology 2026

Deadline: August 1st 2026

The Novo Nordisk Foundation Prize for Biotechnology (formerly the Novonesis Biotechnology Prize) is awarded annually to a scientist in Europe who has made an outstanding contribution to the development of innovative and sustainable biotechnology solutions for the benefit of people and the planet.

The Prize is accompanied by DKK 5 million, of which DKK 4.5 million is a research grant and the rest a personal award.

The Prize was first awarded in 2015 as the Novozymes Prize. The name was later changed to the Novonesis Biotechnology Prize, before becoming the Novo Nordisk Foundation Prize for Biotechnology in 2026.

Awardees must have made an important contribution to European Science in areas of relevance to e.g. biomanufacturing, industrial, environmental, food or plant biotechnology. The prize is not awarded for a life-time achievement contribution to science. They must have a current position and an active research program at a public or non-profit research institution in a European country. Awardees can have any nationality.

The Foundation invites you to nominate the bright minds behind the outstanding European research or technology achievements that contribute to the development of innovative and sustainable biotechnology solutions for the benefit of people and the planet. The Foundation has also simplified the nomination process and welcomes nominations by individual researchers and by research institutions including academic and industrial institutions, and research funding agencies. Anyone can nominate a candidate for the prize.

Please submit your nomination via the nomination form by August 1st 2026.
