Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Spohn

Senior Professor at the University of Tübingen,
Institute of Philosophy at the Faculty of Humanities.


He advises members of the Ethics & Philisophy Lab as mentor and supports the implementation of the scientific field of theory and machine learning.


Wolfgang Spohn studied Philosophy, Logic & Philosophy of Science and Mathematics at LMU München., where he did his habilitaion in 1984. thereafter he held professorships at the Universities of Regensburg and Bielefeld. Until 2018, he was a professor at the University of Konstanz.

Wolfgang Spohn's areas of competence are epistemiology and philosophy of science, with a special focus on logic. With his work on the deduction of causality from statistically distributed data and on the development of models to describe uncertainties, he has strong links to the scientific questions that are being investigated within the Cluster of Excellence.
