Science inspires

A series of events for high school students

What is "Science Inspires"?

Scientists who have completed the “Transfer Science and School” certificate program – designed specifically for conducting school events – will visit your classroom for a double period. Together with the students, the scientists will explore an exciting and current research topic.

To ensure the session is a perfect fit for your class, a brief preliminary discussion with the scientist will take place beforehand.

What does "Science Inspires" offer students?

  • insights into exciting research topics of today
  • the opportunity to discuss and ask questions with scientists
  • the chance to come into contact with scientific ways of thinking and working
  • the opportunity to learn about interesting research areas and potential subjects to study at the University of Tübingen
  • insights into different professional fields of scientists

Who can participate in “Science Inspires”?

All teachers in the region can book events organized by “Science Inspires” for their high school classes (grades 10–13).

How does "Science Inspires" work?

1. Registration for Events
Using our form, you can specify your preferred “Science Inspires” events – including your preferred dates – for up to 5 classes during the registration period.
After the registration period ends, we will review all requests received and match them as closely as possible with available capacity. Shortly after the registration period closes, we will inform you which event(s) we were able to reserve for you and your class(es) and send you all relevant information about the schedule.

2. Joint Preliminary Meeting
To ensure the event is a perfect fit for your class, a brief preliminary meeting with the scientist will take place after registration. Here, you’ll learn about the planned content of the event in detail, discuss the students’ prior knowledge, and have the opportunity to share your requests and insights. All organizational details will also be clarified to ensure the event runs as smoothly as possible (e.g., exact time, classroom equipment, etc.).

3. Preparation Materials
Approximately 2 weeks before the event, you will receive materials to help students prepare and get in the right frame of mind for the topic (e.g., research assignments, newspaper articles, etc.).

4. Conducting the Event
The scientist will visit your class for a double period. Together with the students, they will explore an exciting and current research topic, examine it in depth, and discuss its societal relevance as well as how the research can contribute to addressing current societal challenges.

Would you like to participate in “Science Inspires” and register?
