“Focus more on vocational interests!”

Gundula Stoll receives her venia legendi.

Gundula Stoll received her venia legendi (Habilitation) in Educational Psychologie on January 13th, 2025. The title of her written habilitation is "The Role of Vocational Interests in Educational Contexts – Impact, Development, and Changeability"; her habilitation presentation was about ‘Student course evaluations—what can they achieve?’.

Vocational interests are important motivational aspects of personality that reflect what people want to achieve in their lives. Vocational interests influence people's behaviour and decisions as they strive to choose activities and contexts that match their interests. Vocational interests are therefore considered central constructs in occupational and organisational psychology and in career guidance.

‘In educational psychology, however, vocational interests have so far received little attention. The overarching aim of my habilitation is to contribute to a stronger integration of vocational interests in educational psychology,’ says Stoll.

Stoll’s supervisor was Prof. Benjamin Nagengast, the reviewers were Prof. Kathleen Stürmer, Prof. Kou Murayama and Prof. Gabriel Nagy. The team of the Hector Research Institute would like to congratulate Stoll on this achievement.
