Goals:

The Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology regularly offers courses on methodology as part of the B.A. and M.A. degree. These courses are each part of an thematic field that comprises of:

• The theoretical analysis of classic and modern research methods of anthropology.
• Practical training in data collection

Students carry out short research projects in small groups (3-5 people) with an assigned topic on location in Tübingen and the surrounding area. The results are then presented during Plenum.These seminars serve as preparation for the “mobility semester” during the 5th semester of the B.A. degree and 3rd semester of the M.A. degree, enabling students to perform their own field research.
