Department of Mathematics

Information for first-year students

Introductory events for first-year students

During the two weeks before the start of the lecture period in the winter term the department of mathematics offers in cooperation with the mathematics student's representation a broad introductory programme with the aim of facilitating the transition from school to university. This programme contains a preliminary course which takes up important topics from mathematics at school, which are assumed to be familiar, and opens up the possibility of getting used to the course of teaching at university. Moreover, there is an interesting supplementing programme to get to know each other and build first contacts with fellow students.

During the first lecture week the dean of academic affairs welcomes the first year students and gives information on the bachelor programmes offered by the department. Further information can be found under the following links:

Facilitating the transition from school to university

The department offers several additional courses before the start of the studies and during the first semesters which should facilitate the transition from school to university. This is supplemented by structures for individual study guidance.
