Akademische Rätin / Akademischer Rat auf Zeit (m/f/d; Bes. Gr. A 13, Assistant to the Chair of High Energy Astrophysics)
The position is expected to be filled from the 1st of June 2024. Initial appointment will be for 3 years that can be extended for a second 3 year term. In the 3+3 years, the successful candidate shall seek to obtain the Habilitation.
The successful candidate is an outstanding astrophysicist with a doctoral degree in Astrophysics/Physics or related disciplines, who will conduct a vigorous research program with focus on compact objects and multi-messenger astrophysics and/or experimental high energy astrophysics. The multi-messenger science program and/or experimental developments of the THESEUS, eXTP, and NewATHENA missions are expected to be a key element of the research program. The successful candidate shall actively participate to the teaching activities of the department and is expected to collaborate in the supervision of theses at undergraduate and graduate level.
The High Energy Astrophysics Group of IAAT has a wide range of interests, including experimental developments in X-ray and TeV Astronomy. Main projects include eROSITA, NewATHENA, H.E.S.S., CTA, eXTP, THESEUS, HERMES and GIFTS. We are conducting data analysis and modelling of multi-wavelength observations of galactic compact sources, supernova remnants, and for indirect dark matter search.
