In 2014 Prof. Dr. Fei HUANG obtained a tenure track junior professorship for Chinese History and Society, which was established as a part of the excellence initiative funding. Since 2020 she holds a regular professorship. The main fields of research are the social and cultural history of the late imperial China and modern China, with focus on landscape and environmental studies, cultural geography, historical anthropology, art history and material culture studies. The teaching encompasses undergraduate and graduate courses to the field of social and cultural history, urban landscape and environmental studies, as well as language courses in Classical Chinese.
