The Project
The IZEW conducts interdisciplinary courses at the 12th-grade level at the St. Meinrad Gymnasium (secondary school) in Rottenburg. In addition to providing students with presentation techniques, teaching them how to work effectively in teams and independently write academic papers, the goal of the project is to motivate students to take an in-depth look at current ethical issues in biomedicine and biotechnology. The method of reflexive consultation developed in the context of the project Concrete Discourses is used, according to which the students work on an actual ethical problem in small groups. Furthermore, the IZEW takes part in the conceptual and didactic development of the Philosophical and Theological Forum (PTF) at the school in which ethical issues are integrated into the school’s curriculum.
