Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Nottingham

On January 28, 2020 a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Nottingham, UK was signed within the delegation visit to Nottingham.

Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of Nottingham Professor Shearer West and Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of Tübingen, Professor Dr Bernd Engler at signing of the memorandum of understanding between the two institutions.

Over the last years, the University of Tübingen enjoyed successful cooperation with the University of Nottingham in both teaching and research. This includes

  • student exchange within the Erasmus+ agreement,
  • three double degree programs in the fields of economics, business, management, and geography,
  • several EU-funded joint projects as well as
  • numerous mutual visits and individual collaboration between researchers.

Recently, an intensification and development of the research cooperation has been initiated by both universities. After hosting the delegation from Nottingham in July 2019 the University of Tübingen paid a return visit to the University of Nottingham on January 27-28, 2020. Along with intensive workshops within several research groups the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by the Vice-Chancellor and Presidents of both universities.

Strong linkages already exist between Nottingham’s Beacons of Excellence and the Excellence Clusters of the University of Tübingen as well as core research areas of both universities, in particular in plant molecular biology, medical imaging, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. This provides a solid basis for successful research collaboration. The signing of the MoU will further strengthen ties between the two institutions and bring the cooperation to the next level. It will also allow to intensify links in the areas of learning, teaching and research, exchange of students and staff members, as well as documentation and research material.
