Die Universität Tübingen hat sich mit zehn weiteren europäischen Hochschulen im Bündnis „CIVIS – A European Civic University“ zusammengeschlossen. Die Partner streben an, auch im Rahmen von Curricula zusammenzuarbeiten und gemeinsame Studiengangskonzeptionen umzusetzen. Wir begleiten und beraten Konzeptteams, welche im Rahmen der CIVIS-Allianz mit strategischen Partnern Projektvorhaben gestalten und Lehr-/Lern- und Prüfungskonzepte sowie Studiengangskonzepte pilotieren und erproben.

Creating Joint Programmes

Department III.1 leads and is responsible for the development of degree programs within the CIVIS alliance. CIVIS is creating the environment to allow member universities to innovate and co-create groundbreaking, international educational programmes. Collaboration beyond borders, a focus on the societal challenges of our time, trasdisciplinarity and interdisciplinary are some of the guiding principles that allow CIVIS universities to work together to create new, international programmes. 

We lead and advise on projects that are designed within the framework of the CIVIS alliance with strategic partners, and support all our academics in collaboration and cooperation in educational activities within the CIVIS alliance.

Microprogrammes

Wie können Microprogrammes in Studiengänge oder den überfachlichen Bereich integriert werden? Welche inhaltlichen und administrativen Schritte sind hier zu berücksichtigen? Welche Hilfestellung gibt es hierbei?

Microprogramme sind ein leicht zugängliches internationales Austauschformat für alle Studierenden der CIVIS-Partnerhochschulen. Durch die Teilnahme erhalten die Studierenden Einblicke in Lehre und Forschung anderer europäischer Hochschulen und kommen gleichzeitig mit Studierenden aus ganz Europa in Kontakt. Durch ein Microprogramme können Studierende sowohl Einblicke in Forschungs- und Wissensbereiche gewinnen, die für ihr eigenes Studium oder ihre berufliche Beschäftigungsfähigkeit von zentraler Bedeutung sind. Zudem können sie transdisziplinäre und transversale Kompetenzen erwerben.

Fakultäten und Fachbereiche können sich bei der Entwicklung von Microprogrammes gerne frühzeitig an die Abteilung III.1 oder TRACS wenden. In einem umfassenden Beratungsprozess erarbeitet die Abteilungen gemeinsam mit den Fakultäten und Fachbereichen die jeweiligen notwendigen Prozessschritte sowie das weitere zeitliche Vorgehen.

Palaeolithic Archaeology (ART-W)

 

This Master's programme, offered by the CIVIS European University Alliance, is located at the intersection of archaeology, anthropology, paleoanthropology, and all subjects related to human evolution.

It focuses on disciplines related to Palaeolithic Archaeology such as Palaeolithic technology, organisation of Palaeolithic societies and aspects of prehistoric ideology, paleoanthropology, cultural evolution, zooarchaeology, archaeobotany, geoarchaeology, among others, as well as numerous topics in human evolution and regional specialisations.

The master's programme is called "ART" in reference to the three partner universites in Europe (Aix-Marseille université, Sapienza Università di Roma and University of Tübingen) and it is designed as an independent master's programme, building upon the curricula of existing programmes in each institution. Fieldwork experience and academic training are also offered in South Africa, via collaboration with the University of the Witwatersrand.

Students can specialise in electives and through excavations/internships. The offers for this reflect the offers of the 3 participating CIVIS universities.

Transdisciplinary Studies of Climate, Environment and Energy (TRACEE)

The Master's Programme in Transdisciplinary Studies of Climate, Environment, and Energy (TRACEE) offered by the CIVIS European University Alliance, empowers you to become a change-maker. It equips you with the knowledge to understand the complex problems of climate, energy, and environmental systems and provides you with the tools to create solutions from natural science, society and human perspectives, through what we call a transdisciplinary approach. This Programme builds on an innovative framework to:

  • Integrate natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, and law to create holistic solutions.
  • Study at different CIVIS universities, experiencing diverse academic cultures and building international networks.
  • Equip yourself with the knowledge and skills to tackle complex global issues and drive real-world impact.

Staff Week 2026

Designing Competence-Oriented Joint Programmes

08.-10. July 2026

This staff week aims to empower academic and administrative staff across the CIVIS Alliance to collaboratively develop and implement competence oriented curricula. This approach, which places the student at the centre of the learning process, is essential for equipping graduates with the necessary skills to create innovative solutions to complex real world problems In an increasingly complex and rapidly changing world, students need subject specific knowledge as well as interdisciplinary and/or transdisciplinary skills to shape the future. Joint programmes play a key role in fostering these competencies. 

Competence based degree programmes enable students to adopt different perspectives, collaborate across disciplinary boundaries, and develop innovative solutions by applying the skills learned in their curricula. By working together with colleagues from different universities, participants will discuss practical strategies and exchange their best practices.
