CIVIS3i postdoctoral fellowship programme selected under MSCA-Horizon 2020
Funding to enhance career development and promote excellent research
The CIVIS3i COFUND project, coordinated by Aix-Marseille Université, has been selected by the European Commission under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions - Horizon 2020 programme to offer postdoctoral career training to talented young researchers within CIVIS. The CIVIS3i project will offer to 32 excellent, innovative researchers – through two calls for applications – a 24-month postdoctoral fellowship that will enhance their career development and carry out excellent research projects within CIVIS key focus areas.
After the selection and launch of its R&I strategy project RIS4CIVIS, CIVIS has achieved a new step in reinforcing its international dimension of researchers by securing new European funding within the framework of the Actions Marie Skłodowska-Curie - Horizon 2020. The new CIVIS3i project, entitled "The CIVIS Alliance Programme for International, Interdisciplinary, Intersectoral Research and Training for Experienced Researchers", will establish an integrated CIVIS-wide programme for the attraction, mobility and high quality training of post-doctoral students. This will be done in coherence with the structuring actions that the CIVIS Research and Innovation programme (RIS4CIVIS) will enable to set up.
CIVIS3i is designed to attract 32 talented researchers from around the world to CIVIS, by providing a favourable environment to conduct research excellence, foster higher quality training adapted to the needs of researchers and support for their careers. These researchers, selected through two calls for applications, will benefit from 24-month postdoctoral fellowships. They will have to present an ambitious research project that meets the three "I's" of CIVIS3i: International, Interdisciplinary and Intersectoral. The international component of these research projects may include the secondment of the postdoctoral fellow to a CIVIS member university for defined periods, thus strengthening research links within the Alliance. To facilitate the intersectoral dimension of the research carried out, the CIVIS3i programme is supported by a network of 24 non-academic partner organizations from the CIVIS Alliance countries. CIVIS3i will start before the summer of 2021 and will allow the recruitment of the first post-doctoral students in Autumn 2021.
This project, led by Aix-Marseille Université, is co-funded by the Horizon 2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions COFUND programme and by four CIVIS member universities: Aix-Marseille Université, Université libre de Bruxelles, the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and the Sapienza University of Rome, and has a total budget of around 4.4 million euros.
