Transitioning from student to working life: how to care for yourself (online workshop)

This hands-on, discussion-based workshop focuses on self-care practices essential for a sustainable and successful transition from university to the professional world. Students will learn the step-by-step process of self-care, with a focus on maintaining well-being during student life and beyond. Each session begins with mindful meditation, followed by interactive activities and discussions aimed at fostering a growth mindset. Emphasis is placed on mental health and developing critical thinking skills, with space for reflection and compassionate pauses when needed.
Methods: meditation, goal setting & initial reflection, self-care break and self-care plan
Duration: 2 half day workshop (1-5 PM)

Taught by:
Dr. Courtney Dorroll is a dedicated educator and Associate Professor of Religion at Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She teaches courses on Middle Eastern studies as well as ethnography and self-care, and she dedicates her scholarly studies to the scholarship of teaching and learning, finding ways to make classrooms more inclusive and sustainable, and self-care as a form of leadership and a pedagogical approach.
She received her B.A. from Purdue University, her M.A. from Indiana University and her Ph.D. from the University of Arizona. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys practicing yoga, mindful meditation, walking, and spending quality time with her toddler, Liv.
