The focus of this department in relation to ageing lies on the analysis of stereotypes of the elderly in society, the social conditions for physical activity and sports in old age and the subjective conceptions of health in old age. Currently, the Institute's central questions pursued are
- To which degree do stereotypes of elderly impact sports activities and individual behaviour around health?
- How relevant are sports activities for the life style of elderly persons or in which settings do senior citizens perform sports?
- Do people between the age of 50 and 70 years find the existing sports programmes appropriate for their needs?
