Master in Sociology: Diversity and Society

The Master's program in Sociology: Diversity and Society offers graduates of social and cultural science programs with previous knowledge of sociological theory and skills in qualitative research methods the opportunity to deepen their knowledge about the relationship of diversity and society and to develop their research skills and sociological reflective skills.
The Master's program is consecutive to the Bachelor's program in Sociology and is designed for a standard period of study of four semesters. Of the 120 credits in this program, 108 are earned in the major subject of sociology and 12 in an interdisciplinary elective. The Master's program begins each winter semester.

From WiSe 24/25, students from the MA DIV have the opportunity to visit the Refugee Law Clinic  as part of the interdisciplinary elective area. As part of this training program, participants first acquire and deepen their specialist knowledge in the area of ​​immigration, refugee and asylum law and, at the same time, learn interdisciplinary key qualifications such as trauma awareness and counseling skills, before they work as consultants themselves under the guidance and supervision of experienced practitioners can become active within. After completing the training program, RLC participants receive the university certificate "Refugee Law Clinic - Human Rights Law in Practice" and can continue to be active in refugee counseling if they wish.
