Research Focus
Lukas Eggert is primarily concerned with the governance, foreign policy and political economy of the entities belonging to Greater China. He wrote his two master's theses on, first, cross-strait relations against the background of constructivist approaches, and, second, on German foreign policy towards China against the background of New Liberalism. He also enjoys analysing the latest digital trends in China and is researching the video game and streaming sector in the People's Republic of China as part of his PhD. He is particularly interested in the impact of video games and streaming on the lives of Chinese citizens/users, the Chinese state's vision and desires for the sector and how it is trying to strike a balance between economic growth and a secure isolated cultural sector.
