CZS PhD Summer School on AI and Law 2026

The Chair for Law and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Tübingen invites applications for the third edition of the CZS PhD Summer School on AI and Law, taking place from 22 to 26 June 2026 at Tübingen Castle.
Building on the success of the first two editions, the Summer School provides a unique forum for doctoral students to present their research and engage in in-depth discussions with fellow PhD candidates and leading scholars. 

This year's keynote speakers include Catalina Goanta (Utrecht University), Eliza Mik (The Chinese University of Hong Kong), Tori Ekstrand (University of North Carolina and Chapel Hill), Orla Lynskey (University College London) and Sangchul Park (Seoul National University).

Doctoral students working on topics related to AI and law are invited to apply by 6 April 2026. Applicants should submit a single PDF to vittorio.franzesespam prevention@uni-tuebingen.de containing a cover letter outlining the research project they intend to present, a CV and an overview of their doctoral dissertation. Travel and accommodation expenses will be covered for all participants. Further details can be found in the full call for applications.

About the Summer School

The Chair for Law and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Tübingen has already hosted two PhD Summer Schools in Artificial Intelligence and Law. The Summer Schools provide a platform for PhD candidates to engage in dynamic discussions and showcase their research. Each edition takes place at Tübingen Castle and features expert lectures from leading scholars, participant presentations, and social events aimed at fostering in-depth discussions amongst participants.
