Norbert Vogels work deals with the theory and history of adult education (especially professionalization and Grundtvig-reception), comparative adult education (esp. Scandinavia), adult learning and instruction, professional and human ressource development as well as denominational adult education.
Current research questions regard the development of professionalism and competence in adult education as well as concepts and institutions in the area of denominational adult education.
Special competencies lie in consulting adult/further educational institutions concerning questions on learning and educational organisation, quality management and human ressource/organisational development.
Currently he is Commissioner responsible for learning and teaching at the Institute of Education, he serves as a chairman of the audit committee for diploma studies and is a representative for the Institute of Education in the doctoral committee at the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences.
