The crisis of the ECB: economic and legal perspectives

Conference in Tübingen at the end of october

On October 27 and 28, 2022, a conference on the challenges that the European Central Bank (ECB) is currently facing will be held in the Fürstenzimmer of Hohentübingen Palace. The aim of the conference is to bring together legal and economic perspectives. It is jointly organized by the Faculty of Law (represented by Professor Jens-Hinrich Binder) and the Department of Economics (represented by Professor Wilhelm Kohler and Professor Gernot Müller). In addition, the conference is financially supported by the Baden-Württemberg Head Office of the Deutsche Bundesbank in Stuttgart.


In addition to a welcome by the President of the Head Office, Patricia Staab, and a keynote by the Vice President of the Deutsche Bundesbank, Claudia Buch, there will be a panel discussion moderated by Sabrina Fritz (SWR). Participants will include Daniel Gros (CEPS, Brussels) and Ulrike Neyer from the University of Düsseldorf, as well as Jens-Hinrich Binder. The conference will feature ten expert presentations by researchers from Thessaloniki, Jena, Berlin, Tübingen and Heidelberg. Representatives of the ECB from Frankfurt will also speak: Otto Heinz (Head of the Financial Markets Law Department), Christophe Kamps (Deputy Director of the Directorate General for Monetary Policy), and Sebastian Schmidt (Research Department).
