On December 10, the Freie Fachschaft WiWi had the pleasure of presenting the "Wiwi-Impuls" to the Timms team on behalf of all students in the School of Business and Economics.
The team around Timms was nominated for their extraordinary commitment and support in online teaching during the past semesters and deservedly won against many other candidates.
Timms (Tübingen Internet Multimedia Server) is a public video-on-demand portal that originated in the winter semester of 1999. It provides live broadcasts of online events and lectures as well as lecture recordings. Timms - and thus the University of Tübingen - is the one of the last video-on-demand services that can still put material on the Internet without the help of larger providers such as Google.
Thanks to the work of the Timms team, high-quality lectures directly from the lecture hall have been available to Tübingen students since the beginning of the pandemic. Thanks to Timms, online formats have been created that are manageable and effective for everyone involved. Their offering has been instrumental in improving the organization of online teaching.
Furthermore, the Timms team is honored for the possibilities that the online teaching format offers for face-to-face teaching. This is because the advantages of Timms can also be used when the university has switched back to full face-to-face teaching. At this point, there should be no winner or loser between online and face-to-face teaching, but a willingness to innovate and find a solution.
The student body of the School of Business and Economics is pleased to know that the Timms team will continue to be actively at its side in this matter.
