The master studies consists of modularised courses divided into lectures with exercises and seminars. In addition there is the master thesis.
The following plan shows the study chronology:
This plan is to be read like this: In the 7th and 8th semester every student is attending (at least) one seminar. In the 9th and 10th semester he/she writes the master thesis. The courses in the compulsory optional subject part in mathematics (WP Math, only modules of the mathematics department) and in the free compulsory optional subject part (WP, modules of all departments) can be chosen and distributed on the four semesters at will.
The free elective specialisation part consists of 30 ECTS credits which can be filled with mathematical modules or with modules from other departments, in particular from the following ones:
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Geoscience
- Computer science
- Philosophy and History
- Physics
- Psychology
- Economic sciences
For the economic sciences there are special regulations from the Economic Science Department.
