Genome Mining
Bacterial and fungal genomes are a rich source for genes/enzymes involved in secondary metabolite biosynthesis.
Using next generation sequencing, sophisticated bioinformatics analysis and molecular biology we are "mining" the genomes of several microorganisms with the aim to find novel secondary metabolites which may be useful for drug development.
