The defining property of superfluids is their ability to flow without friction, which highly impacts the dynamics of rotating neutron stars.
The presence of superfluids in neutron stars is an important ingredient in models of pulsar glitches, oscillation modes, cooling of old pulsars... and maybe even timing noise. Recent simulations of vortex motion in a disordered environment allowed us to test some qualitative features that are expected for this kind of friction: the main results and their relevance for the astrophysical phenomena of pulsar glitches and timing noise will be discussed.
