CRC 1070/ Phase 3 ResourceCultures: Subproject S - Service project geoscientific and geoarchaeological expertise and research data management

The geoscientific service project S is a crucial interface between the different specialist disciplines of the SFB 1070. The purpose is to provide and analyze environmental and spatial information within an interdisciplinary context. Apart from the management and maintenance of geodata, the tasks of project S comprise intensive geoscientific and geo-archeological support and consulting for the different specialist disciplines, as well as the establishment of superior competences by means of training courses. The emphases of the courses lie on the use of Geographical Information Systems (GIS), the application of modern exploration technologies for archeological field surveys and the implementation of (geo-) statistical and mathematical multifactorial methods for data analysis within the scope of interdisciplinary questioning.
