Digital transformation also transforms our understanding of what a home is, and where we are at home. This panel session will be an interactive event with spotlights on „smart“/“lively“ homes (Bridgette Wessels, Glasgow), the (digital) efforts of refugee Afghan women to make a new home (Laura Schelenz, Tübingen), platform-mediated sharing of homes (Airi Lampinen, Stockholm), and being at home in virtual spaces (Anubhav-Kumar Singh and Nick Gorenflo, Tübingen, Geschwister-Scholl-Schule).

As not only the speakers but also the participants are experts on their own "home making", we will together discuss the opportunities and pitfalls in meeting diverse needs for "home" in a digital age, ranging from connectedness and control to safeguarding privacy and valuing disconnectedness. What types and sorts of "innovations" do "homes" need – and what roles do digital technologies play in them?

Organised by the CIVIS Hub "Digital and Technological transformation".
