KLUG – A blended learning concept for teacher training
The challenges currently facing history teachers are immense. Good history lessons should provide students with historical orientation and take into account competence orientation, digitalization, and inclusion. Teachers are offered support for this, e.g., through digital teaching and learning materials, but also through continuing education programs.
As part of the joint project KLUG - InKLUsiv Geschichte lehren (InKLUsive History Teaching) of the universities of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt, Tübingen and Oldenburg, which is funded by the BMBF, the effectiveness of such offers is being tested in a control group design. For the project group, a team of history didacticians, educational psychologists, special education teachers, and history teachers developed a blended learning training series with the goal of supporting the development of subject-specific as well as cross-disciplinary pedagogical teaching competencies for the joint teaching of people with different learning and performance prerequisites. To achieve this goal, the digital history book "mBook Gemeinsames Lernen NRW" is used.

A blended learning concept for teacher training (KLUG)
In order to meet the different needs in inclusive classes, teachers need support. This includes coordinated teaching and learning materials, especially if they use the possibilities of digital technologies, as well as further training measures.
The researchers of the KLUG research project are therefore developing a blended learning concept for the further training of teachers to support them in the use of digital media in history lessons. The focus is on the digital history book "mBook Gemeinsames Lernen NRW".
The researchers analyze, among other things, the subject-specific and history didactic competencies, the teachers' satisfaction with the continuing education concept, but also the teaching quality perceived by students. The results of the research project can be used to further develop inclusive teaching and learning with digital media. On the other hand, they can be used in the development of new teacher training programs.
